Book Kayaking on Little Sandy River- Weekend
Choose your adventure! Travel down the river (left from our sandy bank) and head out on a 2.3 mile paddle to the mouth of the Ohio River, stopping to rest at the Greenup Boat Ramp, before paddling back. You could also choose to paddle (right from our bank) upstream along the winding river. Stretch your legs at a little over 3 miles at the Racoon Boat Ramp before paddling on or turning back.
The waters of the Little Sandy River are typically very still, with very little current due to being controlled by the dam at Grayson Lake, as well as the Greenup Locks and Dam 15 miles north on the Ohio River. Expect a lake-like experience nestled between two hills with pasture land, fields, campsites and wildlife galore.
